Some moments stay with you forever, not because of grandeur or perfection, but because of the quiet grace they hold. That’s what I felt at the Confirmation Mass for children with special needs at Madonna Queen of the Universe Shrine in East Boston. I felt honored to attend with my children, and even more grateful to witness a moment that reminded us all what true inclusion looks like.

The Mass was created specifically to welcome children with disabilities, a space filled with understanding, patience, and warmth. Families like mine are used to navigating a world not built for our children. So to be invited into a spiritual space designed to meet our needs felt like a blessing.

One moment touched me deeply and brought tears to many eyes. A young boy who struggles with transitions became upset when the location of the Confirmation changed. Originally planned for the main church, the Mass was moved to the chapel due to another scheduled event. The sudden change was overwhelming for him…
